What we are up to

Sam Meech's COMPOSITE

25/04/12 Live
by Nathan Jones

COMPOSITE: A PERFORMANCE WITH peachy VIDEO TITLERS... at 7pm in Saturday 28th April in the Bluecoat Hub, Sam Meech presents a new work in progress, using a trio of video titlers and a trio of speakers as a performance-lecture analogue-fun text-mash-up.

Artist Sam Meech, Mercy creative director Nathan Jones, and writer Mark Crump will each be presenting a short paper on our chosen subjects, whilst taking notes live on a series of daisy-chained video titlers. The result will be a new remixed text, which will be read out as an improvised auto-prompt by Nathan. The lecture / performance lasts just over 20 mins.

Sam will be discussing the nature of the video signal, presenting extracts from an interview with Mark Bodner, technical manger of the North West Film Archive.  Nathan will be talking about Textual Noise, as usual, and Mark Crump will present a science-fiction extract.

This first iteration of the work has been kindly supported by Cornerhouse's Microcommisions scheme, which has allowed Sam to go on a massive ebay binge in pursuit of the peachiest analogue video titlers out there.

The work is also part of Mercy's ongoing programme of live writing and performance work, supported by Arts Council England GFA.
