WHO WE DO IT WITH

MERCY SAYS:

The Hive collective is a group of audio and visual artists that have been at the forefront of developing innovative electronic music and audiovisual performance in Liverpool since the organisation was established in 2003.

Mercy and Hive both started around the same time, coming out of the FACT centre's first few years, and we've been close ever since. They've stayed late to DJ at our events, made digital-craziness of our vocals, and generally added that touch of audio class and intellect to lots of our stuff. It's an honour to have them as contemporaries and pals - and we're looking forward to working with them on some vocal manipulation stuff for the new programme.

HIVE SAYS:

Mercy provide a way of challenging what we already do as artists, and open up new possibilities. I think is good to try and push some of the methods we’re already working on in new directions. The improvised nature of the Midnight Special collaboration provided a learning curve and getting us to collaborate made me think about how we could progress the intersection of language and technology through poetry and electronic music in a more coherent way.

The foresight of Mercy to put differing types of artists together that they see that might work together is brave: that’s the nature of truly experimental work.
